SUNNY ‘THE GREAT’ FONG

Sunny Crowned Season 2 Winner of
Project Runway Canada

Project Runway Canada season 1 winner Evan Biddell, joined the Expert Panel for the Highly Anticipated Season 2 Finale. A series first, ET Canada Host, Cheryl Hickey also made a special, surprise guest appearance on the coveted Project Runway Canada catwalk at Toronto Fashion Week for the Fashion’s final face-off.
I clearly remember what it felt like to be in the line-up prior to the show, flashing my V.I.P invitation card so they could let me in. Mission: Finding room to breath among the crowded environment and spotting a seat. The adrenaline, the growing anticipation, the excitement, the electricity filling the air, was a moment of pure magic. These moments are the reason why we do what we do.

These moments make us forget the line-ups we face in the cold to get in the shows, the pain in our stilettos to look the part, the extend we go through to get a front row seat - especially when they’re not assigned to us - the silent battle with endure with fellow media/photographers for a coveted shot and of course the countless sleepless nights to write our reviews...
It all vanishes when we're calmed, seated and ready to witness beauty at its finest.

To keep it all a secret, the collections were presented almost anonymously, keeping us guessing, but one could almost tell which one was Sunny's. And when the show aired yesterday, he clearly Wowed the Judges with his Inspired Runway Collection.

There was only room for one on this runway…and Sunny Fong was declared season two winner during last night's finale of the highly addictive Global Original Series Project Runway Canada.

Sunny Fong, a 32-year-old Toronto native, was the final designer left standing last night on Project Runway Canada – besting design offerings from runners-up Jessica Biffi and Jason Meyers. Sunny’s collection was inspired by Alexander the Great and delivered stunning versatility that stayed true to his unique point of view.

My experience on Project Runway Canada has definitely been life changing,” said Sunny Fong, Season Two Winner of Project Runway Canada. “To be able to create my line full force is spectacular. I can’t wait to blow up on the fashion scene, not just in Canada, but around the world.”

Show host and supermodel, Iman, together with a judging panel made-up of season one winning designer, Evan Biddell, resident judges Rita Silvan, Editor-in-Chief of ELLE Canada, and Shawn Hewson, Creative Director of Bustle Clothing, collectively agreed Sunny was and will be an unstoppable force in the fashion world.

As Project Runway Canada season two champ, Sunny has won it all – a cover and feature spread in ELLE Canada, a professional portfolio photo shoot courtesy of L'Oréal Paris, a 'Runway to Retail' business mentorship with Winners, and $100,000 to start his own fashion line.
There is no such thing as certainty when it comes to the Fashion world, but I have never doubted this outcome. From the very first episode to the last challenge, Sunny stayed true to himself, bringing quality designs and creativity like never seen before time after time, I couldn't be more thrilled. This is the rebirth of VAWK.
I'll do my best to steal a word or two from our new crowned King in 2 weeks at the ELLE FASHION & BEAUTY SHOW.

Until then, Tataaaaaaaaaaa!
