New Madonna Video - Love her Look...

In Madonna's new video "Celebration", she dances provocatively like she knows how, in a Balmain dress from the Label's Fall 2009 collection.
-
I knew the french and shy Christophe Decarnin (Balmain lead Designer) had something to do with this, the very first moment I saw the video.
-
The lenght of the dress reveals lots of skin indeed, unless worn with knee-high boots as done by La Madone in her video.
-
A little racy but so well balanced, it doesn't fall under the too-trashy category (I am not referring to the video itself, just the outfit)
-
If Parties and social gatherings had a respective uniform, Balmain dresses would be IT.
Add some killer accessories, like bangles, cuffs, clutch, in metallic preferably...and le tour est joue!
-
Modern shapes, strong shoulders, architectural details, edgyness...they make for a strong statement.
-
These dresses are the ultimate combination of attitude, confidence, feminity and Sexiness.
-
They transform the woman who wears them in a complete Glamazone, ready to take down men one by one, Madonna was no exception.
-
She wore vintage like glasses as an extra, maybe to take few years back...

Madge proved to us that she still got it going on, or does she?
From raunchy, sexy dance moves to smooching young guys on TV, nothing was left out of the equation.
...She almost had me convinced!!!

Click here to watch her new Video in full: CELEBRATION

Let me know what you thought of her looks (and what you think about the video)

Until next time, Lovers & Dahlings - Tataaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Heel (ing) Power - Daisy platform slingback bootie

So what do you think of this one?

Fall 09 accessories Line.
-
I picked this one, over others because of its contradicting appeal.
-
Both rough and soft, masculine in its very feminine details.
-
I think this bootie is sexy beyond words, without falling in the Tramp/Stripper category.
-
Great for accessorizing a pair of denim short, a skirt, a tregging, a skinny...The choice is yours.
-
I simply Love it!
Until the next Heel Power, Tataaaaaaaaaa!

Boom, Boom, Boom: Black Eyed Peas...

A Black Eye isn't the most Fashionable statement,
but I'd say yes to a Black Eyed Peas Concert.

Good Luck!

Totally Obsessed...with Antonio Berardi

My Obsession

I had to find a close up picture to see how dangerous these heels really were. These Antonio Berardi's fall 2008 hot heel-less shoes, certainly look unique and somewhat tricky, but they could end up being surprisingly comfortable.

-
NOTE: The sole of the shoe is large enough, just like in wedges, they could be more comfortable than high heels. Just because of that, I am more and more tempted to try them on.

-
Now don't get me wrong, I don't condone pain but I think these are worthy of the try, and just like Carlie Wong from Project Runway Canada said: "makes me wanna ghetto-style, break the heels off a cheap pair and see how it works."

I cannot wait to get my feet on them, they just might be Awesome!
Keep you posted.

Until next time, Tataaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Victoria Beckham does No Heels!

Antonio Berardi's fall 2008 shoes collection had people talking and wondering...How can one actually walk in such heel-less shoes???
-
Well, who else could have challenged the limitless of style other than Fashion phenomenon Miss Victoria Beckham herself.
-
She was spotted wearing these $6,000 Antonio Berardi PVC boots while promoting one of her fragrances at Macy's last year.
-
Discussion sparked as many of you reacted to the "Fierce Shoes Update" post, in which I featured another Berardi's creation.

So here is the answer: you must be of the calibre of Dame VB herself, to walk in these, or at least have your hubby around, to literally support you.
-
But rest assure, she is still human. See how tense she looked while climbing the stairs, but I have to give it to her for avoiding a Major faux pas.
-
Now my competitive spirit wants to give in the experiment. I have great balance when it comes to heels, so why not get on and actually do it? (although this challenge involves NO heels!)
-
I'll have to find a pair of Antonio Berardi first, probably at Mona Moore boutique .
-
Not only will I try them on, but I will tape myself walking in them (or falling in the worst case). It shouldn't be Mission Impossible.

I leave you on this one, while I hit Dodo Land.
Tataaaaaaaaaaaaa lovers & dahlings!

Fierce Shoes update...

Wow!!!

I have asked, and now I have received.
-
The shoes pictures I have received so far, are hot, sexy, hilarious or just down right out of control, you have really been searching and I am impressed.
-
I will select our first fierce pair to be posted this Friday. Sweet!
-
But besides that, I just might need to create a separate category for the foot craziness I have seen, it's just too much to pass on.
-
Thank you everyone and Keep on sending them.

Dear Lovers & Dahlings...Where are you reading from?

I have been asking myself the question for a while now, wondering who my dear Lovers & Dahlings are and where they're reading me from...
My questions were finally answered after installing the Stat Counter on my Blog.
-
Thanks to this cool tool, I am now able to see, how many Lovers & Dahlings stopped by, what they read, which page they came from, for how long they stayed on and most interestingly, where they are reading from.
- Totally sweet!!!
As illustrated in the picture below, for example, I get to see from which countries you visited me, and two hours later today...as in 2:30AM, Lovers & Dahlings have come from just about everywhere: Europe, US, Canada, Asia, Africa and Australia...so much lovin' in just the past two hours!!!
- Double Sweet!!!
I am truly grateful for it ALL!!!
There was a time when my Fashion blahs and Style critics were only known to few and now, look at this Map, its just impressive!
-
This goes to show that when you think you are doing the right thing, you often are.
And this gives me an idea to start something great, still uncommon to the Blog world!
I won't give out much now, but so stay tuned for more.
-
In the mean time, keep on enjoying your visits and don't be shy let me know you were here, drop me a comment or a note - I'd be happy to read a few words from you.
-
In Italian, French, Chinese, Slovenian, Spanish, German, Polish, Lingala, or any other language you may fancy, I'd love to hear it.
-
So now that I am heading to Dodo Land - I just want to say Thank you once more!
-
Grazie - Merci - 谢谢您 - Hvala - Gracias - Danke - Dziękuję - Malamu Mingui

Until next time, Tataaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

If I were a Boy...

I'd definitely be a Chuck Bass type of Lad.
-
Sinful son of the Upper East Side, I'd enjoy the occasional Scotch on rock, with a dose of naughty poker sessions, evil plotting and puppet master mannerisms...
-
I'd be the epitome of class, the one with a whole lot of self assurance and charisma, a noticeable style, always dressed to kill, isn't that the point!
-
Dark humour and sarcasm would be my French and Sassy women with an attitude, my croissant du jour.

I'd care for a closet full of Gucci Fall/Winter 09/10 options...Few items really caught my attention.
-
The collection of mirror silk ties in rich colours, would be an interesting way to play up any outfits. Absolute Purple? Royal? Yes!
-
Another item I'd gladly add to my stylish collection, would be the perfect leather sole moccasins. The pair in Red calf with tassels would be the one.

It's power, sex-appeal and of course Money.
-
A duffle bag to bring all necessities with me while on business trips would be a must, not to count the space I'd need to carry my inflated Ego.

-
When it comes to Men's Style - I always say: "go for a very polished look", can you blame me? I think not.
-
Mr. Bass will always top my list when its comes to the most Stylish personalities on TV. He is a true swagger, as they call it now.
-
If I were a boy...I'd be chic and class. I'd take more risks with my look, without losing the essence of my character.
-

At times, to add a little fantasy, I would go for avant-garde couture such as Alexander McQueen's Fall 09 Men collection. I wouldn't mind experimenting.
-
After all, Brad Pitt did wear a skirt in Troy, and far from being ridiculous, it was HOT.

Not saying I'd beat Troy....but you know, I'd be just as stylish!
That's all.

Midence Oliu Millinery - Label Launch Pics

At the Midence Oliu Millinery Label's Launch party in Toronto weeks ago, I met with the extravagant and over the top Milliner, who showed off his best Haute Couture wedding inspired collection, in a Fancy and Glam atmosphere at the Fuzio resto-lounge.
-
We first stopped at the Pre-Launch-Party.
Au menu, wine & cheese, make-up & touch ups, Hat fittings, networking, glamour and bonne humeur.
-
A perfect occasion to meet the Milliner in a more private setting, we caught up like old friends, discussing about his label, favourites pieces, listening to Madonna while sipping on wine.
-
His pieces are extravagant and dramatic, yet very glamorous and feminine. He for one, knows how to make a confident woman look fearless and stylish.
His all time favourite material for his creations include a lot of ostrich plumes, duck feathers, sinamay, organza and Crin.

-
On this picture, the Miss SLY! inspired head piece, was made with Crin and peacock feather - no glue all hand techniques - Simply Fab and Glam!
-
It was love at first sight, literally - He didn't have to ask me twice for me to wear it all night.
-
Glamour, SLY, Chic, all the perfect elements of Style. Loved it so much, so I actually ended up purchasing it! Supporting Canadian Fashion!!!

Watch out for Midence Oliu Millenary, he is taking his label to new height, lately joining The Style Box list of Canadian Designers. He attended their red carpet event, held today in Toronto, to promote his savoir faire as The Style Box unveiled more of Canadian Fashion magic.
-
I couldn't be of attendance to The Style Box red carpet event, so I managed to get some insight on this Glam night, courtesy of @geekigirl and @gailmcinnes. Check out the Flickr Album for a sneak peak preview!
-
Our Milliner extraordinaire certainly didn't go unnoticed!
More to come on that.

This September, The Devil will wear Prada once more...

Back in elementary school, September was synonym of rainy season, a time when summer flings had already turned into a vague souvenir, the end of fun and freedom...Vacations were over and School was just around the corner - bouh ouh ouh!

The only exciting thing was going to the tailor with my siblings, to get our school uniforms ready. My father was not too fond of it, as he sat through the entire process, making sure I wouldn't request something too extravagant for school.
-
I'd pretty up my standard US-Navy-coloured uniform (think frumpish Khaki blouse & misshapen Navy-blue skirt), dictating my wants - "no shoulder pads, cinched waist for the top, short sleeves, pencil skirt..."Fashion was already a big deal, back then.
Today is no different in my Fashion Journalist & Style Critic world, September is Fashion Renaissance, Reinvention, Experimental, New, Old...
-
A time for the Fashion Industry to set trends and styles for the upcoming year; what will be Hot or Not, where to find it and how to work it.
-
A complete frenzy!

No wonder it is now famously called the January of Fashion, to quote a connoisseur from the most awaited Fashion Documentary to hit theatres this fall - The September Issue - featuring the true Devil, in her best Prada attire:
Legendary Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, leading her army of devoted Fashion editors while they create the issue that will influence the rest of the world, Fashionably speaking.

If Miranda Presley the Boss of Hell from the thought-provoking and acclaimed movie The Devil wears Prada was cold, cutting, workaholic and threatening, I am sure "Nuclear Wintour" and her peaches & cream-with-a-touch-of-arsenic attitude will not disappoint.
-
This is real life and real business with tight deadlines, budgets to manage, expectations to meet, readers to please... more than enough reasons to be THE Devil a successful publication like VOGUE ought to possess, to keep the Sophisticated Fashion Fantasy alive.

I have chills just thinking about it, as it reminds me just how much I enjoy working in this industry, with all that it implies.

So Lovers & Dahlings - Looking forward to share with you my thoughts on The September Issue, once I have watched it. No Bias!

Until next time, Tataaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Holt Renfrew's new display windows + more...

To my Lovers and Dahlings!

Allow me to share with you, pictures Fashion moments, I came across while venturing on Sherbrooke and De La Montagne streets.
-
Holt Renfrew new window displays, Christian Louboutin's boutique, un chic cafe... I saw beauty, red, heels and originality.
Enjoyed the view!
-

Striking Umbrella look clearly inspired by Alexander McQueen
Women's FALL/WINTER 09 - “THE HORN OF PLENTY”
This second look is in my opinion a bit too busy
They are going for a graffiti theme it seems
Too artsy for me maybe? could be classier!Yves St-Laurent chic accessories
Now we are talking true Fashion and Style

YSL does justice to the studded pumps family!

Marc by Marc Jacobs accessories- I see red!Now tell me that heels aren't The essence of Sexy!
Le Cafe Holt Ladies and Gents

Menu ranging from $6 to $30 something...

Now, (almost) everyone can indulge in some Holt, Guilt-Free.

Discovered Louboutin's boutique on rue De La Montagne

A subtle whisper... confidence, attitude, glamour! Women's strongest and most reliable weapon

Heel Power!

The fantasy ended on a high note, in front Andy The-Anh's boutique

What more can I ask for...Oh yes, A semelle rouge.
-
A regular Sunday afternoon, Montreal style.
Nothing fancy, just random beauty and eccentricity in the streets.

Until next time, tataaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Classic Fashion Walk...

From "Rue Sherbrooke" house of all brands to "Rue De La Montagne"the always chic
...I walked!

Before being glued to my computer for yet another thrilling typing frenzy, I often take what
I call my classic fashion walk, to let out the inspiration for my next post.
(I am posting from my mobile - genius)

-On Sherbrooke street, the new Holt Renfrew window displays are up...lots of colours and graffitis, featuring Versace, DVF, Prada...more to come on that later.

-On De La Montagne street, I discovered the Cafe Holt (may not have paid attention before), I didn't know they had one...more on the Menu when I get home...Maybe now, indulging in some Holt will be Budget friendly.

So much more on De La Montagne street, Louboutin, Andy The-Anh, more Holt...Rushing back home, to add pictures to my blahhhh.

One Creative Night

Hello Lovers and Dahlings.

This is yet another late night for your Always-on-the-run Fashion Journalist ...I was once told that "Creativity comes knocking late at night" so how rude would it be for me to keep her waiting?
I have just finished conducting Interviews with two Artists and Avant-gardists you ought to discover, by all means.

Firstly, let's talk about Midence Oliu Millinery - The Couture Hat Milliner whose Label Launch Party was held in Toronto two weekends ago (time sure flies, but where does it go?!?).
-
His debut Wedding couture inspired line, was simply fearless, out of the ordinary and what you would expect to wear, not only to be noticed but to feel Chic all over.
-
In addition, he created an amazing black Hat to capture the essence of Miss SLY! which I proudly wore and showed off all night (took it home with me afterwards -Perks of the job! ).
-
My interview with him is even more Feroshhhh to quote Midence Oliu himself, so look out for it, because I won't give out much now.

Secondly, I'd like to talk about a special Lady; an interesting Blasian phenomenon you will soon hear about.
-
I am referring to musician and a blogster (her own words) - Coko Galore, one hell of a number, with her fiery hairstyle and "Orange clock work style lashes".

She is definitely not your average singer.
-
I like that she is not afraid to voice her opinion, quite bluntly at times, but that is what makes Coko the Galore she is.
-
Plus, she has a colourful and bubbly style, that I find quite edgy, from her clothes to her lyrics.
Her first single "Those Girls" has a catchy happy feel good sound you won't stop humming the minute you hear it.

I was honoured to interviewed these two talented artists and now it's full on editing mode, but I couldn't keep to myself until the end, so there you have it Lovers and Dahlings: The inspiring moment of my day.

I must go now, another Fashion Mission calls my name.
So blowing off *Fashion Kisses* your way,

until next time, Tataaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
