Rudsak - SS/10 Collection LG FW

Leather expert Rudsak presents the SS/10 collection at LG Fashion Week.

Leather takes some hot hues for the Spring and Summer to come, starting in white, grey and soft lilac to evolve in beige and chili red coats, jackets, pants.

The leather on pants for men looks really soft, women's coat and jackets are edgy, silk and satin dresses worn with a leather jackets is very sexy, great accessories in the purses and heels department as well.

Leather doesn't always have to take a dark turn, as shown by Rudsak for Spring and Summer. Interview and pictures to come next.

Rudsak l'Expert du cuir présente sa collection printemps-été 2010 à la LG Fashion Week.

Le cuir a pris des teintes chaudes pour le printemps et l'été à venir, en partant des classic noir et blanc, pour évoluer vers des gris et doux lilas pour les manteaux, et beige et rouge chili, pour des vestes, pantalons et blousons.

Le cuir du pantalon des hommes est d'apparence douce, pour les femmes, les robes de satin et soie sont sexy, portées avec une veste de cuir, agencées de sacs et talons hauts.

Le cuir ne joue plus la carte sombre, ce printemps et été, comme l'a montré Rudsak. Entretien et photos à venir.

Lucian Matis - SS/10 Collection, LG FW

Lucian Matis, showing his SS/10 Collection at LG Fashion Week.

A cohesive collection, with avant-garde accessories such as the Gladiator inspired headpieces, adorning an overall glamazone look, of soft pastels dresses, chiffon and silk garments and sequins numbers.

The chiffon embellished heels add both strength and character in a sexy and edgy way. Robin Kay obviously enjoyed the show, I haven't seen her that agitated in previous shows.

Une collection cohésive, avec des accessoires avant-gardistes tels que la coiffure à inspiration gladiateur, embellissant un look glamazone dans l'ensemble, des robes au couleurs poudrées douces, mousseline de soie et vêtements à paillettes.

Les chaussures embellies de mousseline de soie, donnent à la fois du caractère et une touche sexy et tendance. Robin Kay a manifestement apprécié le spectacle, je ne l'ai pas vu aussi agitée aucours des spectacles précédents.

NADA SS/10 Collection - Film intro story LG FW

Every woman loves a little romance...

In the Designer's own words: "enjoy the romance at the very beginning, as it may not be there anymore, once routine settles in".

NADA introduced her SS/10 40's inspired collection with a mini film shown here.
The collection features lots of lace, big puffy hair do, Old hollywood Glamour, fitted and feminine clothes all the way.

Jason Meyers - SS/10 Collection LG FW

SS/10 Collection by Jason Meyers presented at LG FW.

A great improvement from his work on Project Runway Canada 2. A collection inspired by Katherine Hepburn 1955 movie Summertime, revisited with a modern and edgy twist. Ruffles, drama, colours, and accessories like headpieces and gloves for a touch of glam.

Arrived in T.dot - Arrivée a Toronto

Lovers & Dahlings,

I have made it to TO, after an extraneous 7 hours bus ride, thanks to the great Jazz sound by Koop, otherwise I would have gone crazy...

Let's not forget the available wifi on these new Mega buses, a great feature that kept me sane the entire time, too bad the electric plugs didn't work, that would have been a major plus.

So I am here for the entire week, as you know, to cover the LG Fashion Week; starting with Sunny Fong' s VAWK at the AGO, followed by a media cocktail a Holt Renfrew to kick things off.

Fabulous shows, Special events, After parties...It's going to be fun and out of control!!!

Going to bed now for my beauty sleep.

Je suis finalement arrivée à Toronto, après un long trajet de 7 heures, rendu possible grâce au son jazz du groupe Koop, sans qui j’aurai perdu la raison...

Notons également la présence de l’internet sans fil (wifi), une caractéristique qui m'a gardé saine d'esprit tout le temps, dommage que les prises électriques ne fonctionnaientt pas, cela aurait été encore mieux.

Day 2 @ the MTL FW - 2eme jour a la SMM

It's very late so I will submit my articles tomorrow, but before letting you go, I just want to note that this second day of the MTL FW was full of pleasant moment, it went well.

From meeting Mr. Gibran once more, catching up with my Favourite TO FW Socialite Nolan, Discovering and enjoying Eve Gravel's show and sipping on wine at Miss Mak show, while flaunting my leather press kit (a clutch!!!), you will enjoy pictures and articles as of tomorrow.

Day 1, Style @ MTL FW - Style Jour 1, à la SMM

Since I am officially diving in the MTL Fashion scene, I will now write in both French and English as needed. So let's start here :)

Vu que je me lance officiellement dans le milieu mode Montréalais, je vais dorénavant écrire en français et anglais, au besoin. Alors commençons dès maintenant :)

In terms of Fashion and Style, I found few Awesomenesseurs at the 17th edition of the MTL

En termes de mode et style, j'ai trouvé quelques Stylés Hors Pair, à la 17ème édition de la SMM.

On this picture, Sarah from Lucky 7, spotted in the Showroom, was sporting a relaxed look, very LA. I like how she accessorized her booties with a mini studs bracelet (from Aldo)

The perfect trio, adorable girls (from the Media) met in the cocktail room.

The nerd glasses, the hats, the leggings and socks, and the overall nonchalence, a simple yet winning combination.

J'aime les lunettes d'intellos, les chapeaux, les collants et chaussettes, et le petit coté sans effort, une combinaison a priori simple mais gagnante.

Spotted Miss Rim's head piece at the entrance of the Marche Bonsecours, soon after, I noticed her grey plaid coat, hiding a simply chic scoop back dress, on purple tights. She was nice enough to take off her coat to show the dress. I like!

J'ai aperçu le serre-tête de Mlle Rim à l'entrée du Marché Bonsecours, peu de temps après, j'ai remarqué que son manteau à carreaux gris, cachait une superbe robe grise a dos dévoilé, sur des collants violets.
Elle a eu la gentillesse d'enlever son manteau pour nous montrer sa robe. J'adore!

The fierce Miss Isabelle - She was in charge of coordinating seats assignment in the Runway environment. Saw her from the back and loved the sheer/see through blouse. As she turned, I took note of her connoisseur glasses and slim jodhpur pants. Strong and classic.

La féroce Mlle Isabelle - Chargée de coordonner l'affectation des sièges dans l'environnement de la passerelle. J'ai remarqué à l'arrière et aimé son chemisier transparent. Lorsqu'elle se tourna, je pris note de ses lunettes de connaisseuse et de son pantalon slim Jodhpur. Ravageur et classique.

Miss Christine from the Showroom, spotted at the Tavan & Mitto stand, was wearing one of the Designers creation.

A little black dress, with origami styled sleeves, accessorized with chain necklaces. A classic and timeless look that always scores point.

She reminds me of French Oscar winner actress Marion Cotillard(pictured right below) for her performance in the french movie "La vie en rose"

Mlle Christine du Showroom, repérée au stand de Tavan & Mitto, elle portait une des créations de la marque.

Une petite robe noire, avec des manches de style origami, accessoirisée de colliers. Un look classique et intemporel qui se démarque toujours. Elle me rappelle l'actrice française gagnante d'un Oscar Marion Cotillard(photo ci-dessous) pour sa performance dans le film "La môme".

And finally Mr. Gibran Ramos - in a sequins ensemble. Working the Nerdy look too (this is such a trend now - are we feeling the need to be prove that smart and stylish can co-exist or what?).

One word: Bold and I liked his personality too, very charming, so why not?

Et enfin M. Gibran Ramos - dans Ensemble pailleté. Un autre qui se prête au look intello (une tendance qui fait des ravages en ce moment – éprouvons-nous le besoin de prouver que l’on peut être intelligent et élégant en même temps ou quoi?).

Un seul mot: osé. J'ai aimé sa personnalité aussi, très charmant, alors pourquoi pas?

That summarizes our 1st day of the MTL FW from the Awesomesseur, I hope to find more of these today: extravagance, audacity, originality, I want it all!!!

Andy Thê Anh - SS/10 RTW @MTL FW

This time around, instead of presenting his collection on the runway, he offered a show in a cocktail atmosphere, tranforming the lounge area in an improvised runway.

The blue lighting of the room went really well with the collection's colour palette, which had a dominance of Blue, Grey and white. Andy is definitely on point with the current SS/10 RTW trends, while remaining faithful to his signature style.

Trends noted:
- Jackets and suits
- Form fitted clothes
- Bold colours
- Coccoon shape

Jackets are a big trend statement for SS/2010, and always a hit with Andy Thê Anh.

His tailoring techniques executed to perfection, make for masterfully finished clothes, with architectural lines and a perfect fit [except for certain models, who's absent curves left the sensuality of these clothes backstage]

I always want to buy one or two things after watching his collections, and this time is no different. There is a great video illustrating the entire collection, which will be posted tomorrow.

Hope to see him live at Toronto Fashion Week, and maybe score an interview.

Finally At MTL FW

Blogging from my phone!

I got here after desperately searching for the St-Paul street, to find the Marche Bonsecours. Located in a very chic little neighborhood, old fashion french, it deserves its name of Vieux Montreal.

There is a red carpet, ready to greet the sea of fashion goers, the entrance is grandiose, I love it, especially at night, which is quite magnificent with the lightings.

What would be a Fashion week without its Wannabes and Lookatmes, they're here, arriving in numbers (they wouldn't dare missing the show).

The line up to get my media registration was rather painless, done in less than 10minutes.

As the shows progress, I will do my best to avoid comparing the LG Fashion Week to the MTL Fashion Week, because they are indeed very different.

One thing I like so far, is the Media lounge, where all the Designers come after their show, for interviews with the press, it's great because you don't necessarily have to chase them backstage.

***I have now headed to the DINH BÀ Design show... I see lots of prints, colors and tight fitted clothes. I am not blown away but I found one or two cute pieces...too bad I missed the previous show.

It was Muse by Christian Chenail , which looked more extravagant and feminine, with its long dresses, Lady Gaga shorts, and great hair. Mr. Chenail is a Designer I'd like to interview next, let's put that on our "TO GET" list...

Montréal Fashion Week: Official Opening -

Official opening of the 17th edition of Montréal Fashion Week

Montréal, October 13, 2009 – Members of the media are invited to attend the launch of the 17th edition of Montréal Fashion Week (MFW) at 3 p.m. today. An event of international scope produced in collaboration with P&G Beauty, MFW will be held at the Bonsecours Market from October 13 to 15. Among the partners and participants invited to speak at the official opening, we note Clément Gignac, Minister of Développement économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation, (Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade), Danielle Bibas, General Manager Canada for P&G Beauty, Patrick Imbert, Director, Ubifrance Canada, Alan Herscovici, President of Liaison Mode Montréal, as well as Chantal Durivage, co-president of Sensation Mode.

Cocktail Room Entrance: 350 Saint-Paul Street East, Montréal

This official launch will be followed by a cocktail during the course of which members of the media and special guests will be invited to discover Le Showroom, a critically acclaimed concept introduced last March and where, over a 3-day period, the collections of some 60 designers and designer-manufacturers will be presented.

On the program October 13th: at the Bonsecours Market at 5 p.m. Andy Thê-Anh, followed at 6:15 p.m. by Muse by Christian Chenail, 7 p.m. Dinh Bà Design, 8 p.m. French designers’ fashion show, and at 9 p.m., Envers by Yves Jean Lacasse and Tatyana Parfionova.

Press accreditations to Montréal Fashion Week will be handed to members of the media at their first visit. Members of the media who have not previously completed the accreditation form will be required to do so on site. Accreditation or the designer’s invitation are required to attend various MFW activities. Miss SLY! is accredited so this is very exciting!!!

In order to ensure a seat at the various fashion shows, it is also advisable to register with the public relations agents of the designers involved.

Mikimoto Pearls & Miss SLY!

I first discovered pearls as a kid, in my mother’s coiffeuse, while playing with her expensive accessories.
-
Touching, feeling and wearing just about everything I could lay my eyes and hands on.

Playing dress up was a favourite game of mine, I was the Grande Dame, wearing Chanel #5, enormous glasses and a white water pearls necklace.

-

Unaware of the value of these “marbles”, I’d simply enjoy the way they made me feel. It was the beginning of a glamour era.

-

Today, I have come to appreciate high end marbles, and will soon get my Audrey Hepburn on with some Mikimoto Pearls of my own, as featured on Sex In The City. They are available on the Mikimoto Pearls website.

Tataaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Ballerinas take over the runway at Marc Jacobs SS/10.

The styling of the collection was very avant-garde, he mixed everyday wear like leggings, socks, jackets with theatrical/Broadway inspired pieces, with sequins and ruffles, and added a strong make up and perfect hair.

Some pieces were unnecessarily over the top, even for me, but you cannot deny his creativity and sense of style, more adventurous than your average Designer, expressing a point of view, having fun.

I wouldn’t wear every piece, the way he assembled them but definitely interested to pick them apart to create a personal and more realistic look.

This is how I could sum up Stella’s SS/10 creations: frills, colours, lightness, movement and flirty attitude, these pieces will be a hit next summer.

There is something to flatter every body shape and every age range, from bustier, suits, pleated tops with frills, froufrou, long and mini dresses, large pants, mini shorts, one shoulder tops …No one is left out, she thought of everything.

It’s nice to see clothes that can actually be worn in public.
Now you can be chic and absolutey environmentally responsible.

Spring/Summer in the Valli

I am a fan of Giambattitsta Valli, because he knows how to deliver spectacular and theatrical pieces, without falling into the totally ridicule trap of Fashion avant-gardism, he loves and respects women and it shows in his work.

I love how flirty the dresses are this season, timeless and carefree, sleeveless for the most part, smothered in dense fringe, feathers or swirls of jeweled embroideries.

These jazzy numbers were interspersed with the egg-shaped dresses and cocoon coats that have become a signature of Valli.

A green pleated chiffon dress, adorned with ruffles, called for temptation with its noticeable fabric movement, and literally made me green with envy.

-

There was also a series of white/red dresses with feathery top or skirt, very French cancan, for any “good girl who wants to go bad” and play naughty/nice. I thought the models captured this essence on the runway to perfection.

We will definitely see these trends cascading down to the Fast Fashion stores like H&M, Zara and BCBG next summer, too bad we have to deal with Winter before we can indulge in the lightness of spring/Summer in the Valli.

LA MAGIE Valli: Spring 2010 RTW

Giambattista Valli went for eccentricity, ethnicity, and eclecticism in his spring/Summer 2010 collection.

In mind, a woman in love, who obviously sees la vie en rose. For that, he used lots of vibrant colors, added to feathers and fringes to play up that fantasy romance is all about.

The recurring silhouette was a drop-waist frothy minidress reminiscent of the twenties.

Fringes, ruffles, feathers and colours were the perfect elements to mix for a cocktail of romance...and it was extremely well executed.

Side note: We are going to need a close up on the heels, they seemed very sexy. Mary-Kate Olsen was working the front row (^ ~)

Fashion-Athon - Oct / Nov 09

It always happens around this time of the year, as we know have come to know it.
At this point, I need a new agenda and a performing organizer, much much needed. I am now strongly considering to hire a PA (Personal Assistant) , I just might start casting for one.

Now, besides the WebTV, the articles and Magazine features and the Branding Firm I am working on, I am preparing to cover 3 Major Fashion events:

*Oct 13 to 15: Montreal Fashion Week hosted at the Marché Bonsecours. My Media accreditation has been successfully approved. I am now sending my RSVPs to most of the shows. I am also thrilled to have been invited to "The September Issue" advanced screening [as part as the Montreal Fashion Week] on Friday October 16th, at 7PM/9PM at the Cinémathèque québécoise. I finally get to watch this much awaited Fashion Documentary, Wintour and Cie better not disappoint.

* Oct 19 - 24: LG Fashion Week hosted in Toronto, at 1030 King Street West, on a 2 acres surface. I will be of the Party as Media once again, with several invites to exclusive shows, including a major Project Runway Canada line up, atVAWK (by Sunny Fong, Winner cycle 2), Brandon R Dwyer (contestant) and Lucian Matis (runner up, cycle 1) LGFW VIP After Party. This will be a great opportunity to meet new faces, rekindle old fashion connections and establish strong business relations.

* Nov 4 - 7: Fashion Cures à la mode hosted in Ottawa, as a 4 day Fashion event benefiting the Ovarian Cancer association. Returning to good old Ottawa is major, especially when we see designers like Toronto based Jason Meyers and Jessica Biffi (both past Project Runway contestants), and Thieves by Sonja Den Elsen amongst many others, presenting their SS/10 collections. It's great to witness Ottawa's Fashion Rise and I am glad to be part of it.

It will be an extremely busy time (love it), running from point A to point B, sometimes twice; nonetheless, a considerable advantage for anyone looking for serious network.
