OFW - Lovelies & the trends of Fall

Time sure does fly!!!
The 1st Part of Ottawa's Fashion Emancipation (OFW) has already been archived, but not forgotten. Infact, the 3 days Fashion Event was the occasion for Designers to share their vision on trends to come for Spring/Summer 09.

It was also an opportunity for Fashion Savvy to add their personal touch of style. So, in case you haven't gotten the memo, these Stylish girls clearly stated what should feature on your Fall Must-Haves list: Black, Tailored jackets, feminine tops, tights, and ankle boots... and of course, statement purses.

<<<---Day 1: Tiffany - Fashion Student from BC - wearing her own creation, a black ensemble (jacket and mini-skirt) with colourful beaded embroidery and red satin flowers. Note: she is also sporting great tights!

--->>>Day 2: I just love the fantasy touch on these black tights, the pattern is edgy, sexy and so original while I can't seem to get over the funky asymmetrical ankle boots on the other pair of legs, very HAWT! Note: The big purses!!>>

<<<----Day 3: More legs action, this time the Cherry Red Richelieu shoes won me over with their very feminine feminine lace

---->>> More on Day 3: The feminine BCBG embroidered applique top looks great and flatters Erin's figure, I like the combination she did with her black leggins and boots, chic and simple.

I was really hoping to see more Fashion from the guests, because that's what makes it all fun and we all know that an original piece (clothes, shoes, necklaces...) is always a perfect ice breaker/conversation starter, which is great for networking.

Capital Fashion Week is in 2 days OT folks, and this time around, don't shy away from statement pieces. Allow yourself to stand out, show your colors and make an entrance worthy of a Fashion Show!!!

"Hot Looks for Ottawa's Fashion Sake"

To encourage Ottawa's rising Fashion and Style, ever growing taste for high end clothing and original pieces which we - Fashion Savvy - crave for, I decided to aknowledge the originals strutting down our streets.

That's what The "HOT LOOKS for Ottawa's Fashion Sake" Tribute is here for- a place where local Fashion Heroes will be featured to recognize their sense of style and encourage everyone else to take more risks, crave uniqueness and always have fun.

Without further a due - here is our 1st Snap Shot of many more to come...
Who: Anitra (cool Name, by the way!)
What: H&M Wool Blue coat
Where: Rideau Center - downtown
When: Nov 17th
Why: The electrifying blue and the large collar of this coat totally get the point across. Plus, she paired it up with daring Shorts & tights - A girl capable of pulling this off in our Cold Ottawa, deserves extra attention- Added bonus, her hair-do was just "Bang On" - I say, HAWT!!!

p.s: Wish my cell phone had a better resolution, the blue looks more like purple but it turned out pretty good - I have glued my Sony camera to my wrist now! lol

Ottawa Fashion Week - Round II

Fashion Angels must have been watching Ottawa's style and innovation up close, thus gracing us with our first ever Fashion Week back in May 2008, which felt rather surreal, like a dream you'd want to continue had you woken up abruptly - you know the one I am talking about -

This time around, the 2nd Edition of the OFW will be held at the National Arts Center in The Panaroma and Fountain Rooms starting Tomorrow Thursday November 13th until Saturday November 15th.

While some Designers from the 1st edition are returning to the Runways to share their Spring/Summer magic for 2009, like Ashley Zaba with her fierceness and striking Designs, Jana Hanzel brings back her undeniable class and memorable Pieces to wow our senses while Melissa Clemente returns with her eye-catching and unique pieces.
But rest assure that Besides the Designers, the Clothes won't be no "Deja Vu". Plus, a great deal of new comers are joining in to make this event even more spectacular like Carmelita Couture and her exquisite & feminine Designs, which are fun and wearable.
You won't be disappointed, and I cannot wait to see it live and report it back to you here!
---Ashey Zaba -------------Jana Hanzel --------------Carmelia C.---

So if you haven't done so already, visit Ottawa Fashion Week to get your tickets.
See you there!

Ottawa goes Way-Far-Er for Ray-Ban

It's official, every "cool kid" in Ottawa (Ontario) owns a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarer (or is about to).

It's not the first time that these classic shades take the streets by storm, since their 1st appearance back in 1952 - just remember Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's -
They've now become a huge phenomenon again, since Hollywood A-listers have been spotted flashing theirs, in classic Black or newest coloured versions.
The wayfarers are stealing the show.
They add instant style, fun and personality to the most modest outfit, so is it enough to convince you to go Wayfarer? Time will tell.

Although I consider myself to be a proud Shade-Aholic, I don't own a pair of these and plan on sticking to my oversized ever-so-chic shades for a more sophisticated look that suits me just right. After all, there wouldn't be anymore Trends if everyone kept following the same oh-so blindly.
Regardless, this one was definitely worth mentioning!

Head over to "Dara Dot Designs"

The L'Oreal Fashion Week was full of pleasant suprises. In addition to the Designers pieces seen strutting down the Runways, I spotted a kiosk blooming with colourful accessories, located right beside one of the Runway entrances.

That's where I met the lovely Dara and discovered her adorable 1920's inspired Floral Headbands collection, amongst the other cute accessories she designs.

The Object of my Desire comes in 2 Fabric - Felt and Leather - and various colours from hot Fushia (like the one she had me try on, which I couldn't resist to buy) pink, grey, blue, red...at a very reasonable price to top it all of - $32 to 42$ -, not to mention the "Service with a smile" attitude of the Designers herself.
I had to get me some "head turning power", which I did by adopting this style daily, and trust me - I am definitely turning heads - How could one resist the urge to add a feminine & chic touch to any outfit in such a simple and budget friendly way?

I know I didn't - will you? check out her website for more on Dara Dot Designs: http://www.daradotdesigns.com/
